Harry Potter Moment of the Week: How do you feel about the HP film cast?

This is a meme I started and thought I’d (with a lot of help from Ula @Blog of Erised) that I’d make a schedule of the posts to come if anyone wants to join in 🙂. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object, quote etc. from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! Each topic will be posted on this page for the week. There will also be free week where everyone can decide whatever topic they want! Hope you enjoy!

How do I feel about the HP film cast..

I honestly really liked the Harry Potter film cast. Don’t kill me but..I watched the first few movies before the books and so I never really had a legit image of my own Harry Potter and the other characters. Harry Potter basically set my book to movie adaptation movie casting expectations. They were able to find 12 year olds to play 12 year olds in a big movie franchise and that just gets me wondering why can’t other movies can’t ever get actors the same age as the actual characters in the books..or at least close. The makeup in the movies were also great so Voldemort actually looks….in humane? Seeing Emma, Dan, Rupert, Matt and everyone else now and then seeing them as kids, ohhh gosh. They are all so big now and successful…I think that raps up this post…

Miss Mayhem

(Book one synopsis because, spoilers)

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.

Why I’m waiting…

The reason why I am so excited for this book is because Rebel Belle was such a good book and I am very excited to see how this series will turn out. Rebel Belle was a great book and a great foundation for the rest of the series. Rachel’s writing is great and I loved the characters and events in Rebel Belle. *A some-what spoiler?* Rebel Belle also was left in a cliff-hanger ending so i’m also very excited to see how the plays out in Miss Mayhem!

Book Buddies Review: Shadow and Bone by: Leigh Bardugo

Shadow and Bone

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Shadow and Bone is the first installment in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy.

(Warning: There are some spoilers in this discussion so this is a warning, you can’t blame me if you find spoilers now)

To see the first part of this discussion, visit Lauren’s blog here!

Kaitlin: Yea, that’s something I definitely cut slack on because it’s only the first book of a trilogy and I guess there won’t be much to learn about her that super in depth because she was an orphan…unless her parent’s death is somewhat important….

Lauren: That’s true. I hadn’t thought of that! Maybe that’s relevant somehow…

Kaitlin: I wouldn’t be surprised seeing of how Leigh Bardugo has planned out her events in this book.

Lauren: Yep. What did you think about the love triangle? People tend to have mixed feelings on love triangles in general.

Kaitlin: Honestly… I’m with Mal this time. They have been friends for so long and I am a huge sucker for those kind of romances. The Darkling…I don’t even know his real name!

Lauren: So true. I’m a huge fan of childhood best friend romances. I lean towards that too.

Kaitlin: I don’t know…when The Darkling first kissed Alina I was thinking “Okay…this is new.” And I kind of thought of it as a way to forget about Mal, and Leigh telling me that Malina would never become a thing but when Mal first kissed Alina I was having a freak out session because of how happy I was.

Lauren: HAHA same here! My favorite part through was definitely the world-building. I absolutely loved the map in the front of the book and found myself referencing it a lot. I loved learning about the types of Grisha, even though it was kind of confusing at times to keep all the Russian-like words straight.

Maybe some changes?

Hello everyone! I am here with you and this is a little update post..or i’m asking for your opinion. I have been considering on adding more things to the reviews. Here are some things I am considering:

  • Adding boxes around the synopsis of books..

Can’t Look Away

Donna Cooner establishes herself as our own Jodi Picoult in this timely tale of sisters, loss, and redemption.

Torrey Grey is famous. At least, on the internet. Thousands of people watch her popular videos on fashion and beauty. But when Torrey’s sister is killed in an accident — maybe because of Torrey and her videos — Torrey’s perfect world implodes.

Now, strangers online are bashing Torrey. And at her new school, she doesn’t know who to trust. Is queen bee Blair only being sweet because of Torrey’s internet infamy? What about Raylene, who is decidedly unpopular, but seems accepts Torrey for who she is? And then there’s Luis, with his brooding dark eyes, whose family runs the local funeral home. Torrey finds herself drawn to Luis, and his fascinating stories about El dio de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.

As the Day of the Dead draws near, Torrey will have to really look at her own feelings about death, and life, and everything in between. Can she learn to mourn her sister out of the public eye?

add to goodreads

  • Adding some more little feature to the reviews…

Maybe somethings like how I feel about the book in 1 word or what my feelings were toward this book at the end and beginning.

  • Adding in more details about the book…

Stuff like page number, publisher, author, or my source of the book.

  • Ending off the review on the home page at the Non-Spoiler section…

I don’t know if you guys notice this but when I write posts I always have the “Read More” link after the synopsis of a book. I am debating on whether to have that on the Non-Spoiler section of my reviews so its more convenient for some people.
