In a stunning literary debut, two boys on opposite ends of the world begin an unlikely friendship that will change their lives forever.

Ollie and Moritz are best friends, but they can never meet. Ollie is allergic to electricity. Contact with it causes debilitating seizures. Moritz’s weak heart is kept pumping by an electronic pacemaker. If they ever did meet, Ollie would seize. But Moritz would die without his pacemaker. Both hermits from society, the boys develop a fierce bond through letters that become a lifeline during dark times—as Ollie loses his only friend, Liz, to the normalcy of high school and Moritz deals with a bully set on destroying him.

A story of impossible friendship and hope under strange circumstances, this debut is powerful, dark and humorous in equal measure. These extraordinary voices bring readers into the hearts and minds of two special boys who, like many teens, are just waiting for their moment to shine.

Why I am Excited for Publication:

This book falls into the “We Need Diverse Books” category, which I will gladly read any day. The “long distance friends” aspect of this book is another reason why I want read this book. It’s just something I can relate to you know? I have internet friends who live in different states so I can relate to this. Also, the fact that they can’t meet each other physically is because they both have special conditions just kills me but it also makes me want to read the book even more.

A teen escapes to a boarding school abroad and falls for a Korean pop star in this fun and fresh romantic novel in the vein of Anna and the French Kiss.

Grace Wilde is running—from the multi-million dollar mansion her record producer father bought, the famous older brother who’s topped the country music charts five years in a row, and the mother who blames her for her brother’s breakdown. Grace escapes to the farthest place from home she can think of, a boarding school in Korea, hoping for a fresh start.

She wants nothing to do with music, but when her roommate Sophie’s twin brother Jason turns out to be the newest Korean pop music superstar, Grace is thrust back into the world of fame. She can’t stand Jason, whose celebrity status is only outmatched by his oversized ego, but they form a tenuous alliance for the sake of her friendship with Sophie. As the months go by and Grace adjusts to her new life in Korea, even she can’t deny the sparks flying between her and the KPOP idol.

Soon, Grace realizes that her feelings for Jason threaten her promise to herself that she’ll leave behind the music industry that destroyed her family. But can Grace ignore her attraction to Jason and her undeniable pull of the music she was born to write? Sweet, fun, and romantic, this young adult novel explores what it means to experience first love and discover who you really are in the process

Mica’s Take Over: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I’m sorry that this is late! This was supposed to be posted on Wednesday, but I forgot to schedule it… oops.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Breaking The Spine. It is a post where we share a book we are excited to read but isn’t published yet.

Carry On

Carry On is a spin-off to Fangirl. Carry On does not have a synopsis yet, so here is the synopsis to Fangirl.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .

But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fanfiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fanfiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Why Am I Waiting?

Fangirl is a really good book (and the title also explains who I am). I am very excited to see how this spin-off will turn out. Apparently, the book is supposed to be based off of the fanfic that Cath wrote: Carry On, Simon. Rowell has a nice style of writing, and I can’t wait to read her new work.

Miss Mayhem

(Book one synopsis because, spoilers)

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.

Why I’m waiting…

The reason why I am so excited for this book is because Rebel Belle was such a good book and I am very excited to see how this series will turn out. Rebel Belle was a great book and a great foundation for the rest of the series. Rachel’s writing is great and I loved the characters and events in Rebel Belle. *A some-what spoiler?* Rebel Belle also was left in a cliff-hanger ending so i’m also very excited to see how the plays out in Miss Mayhem!

Hunted

(Branded synopsis)

Fifty years ago The Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society.

To punish the guilty, he created the Hole, a place where sinners are branded according to their sins. Sinners are forced to live a less than human existence in deplorable conditions, under the watchful eye of guards who are ready to kill anyone who steps out of line.

Now, LUST wraps around my neck like thick, blue fingers, threatening to choke the life out of me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and the Hole is my new home.

Constant darkness.

Brutal and savage violence.

Excruciating pain.

Every day is a fight for survival.

But I won’t let them win. I will not die in the Hole.

I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter. My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

Why I’m waiting…

The reason why I am so excited for this book is because of the fact that it is the sequel to Branded! I loved Branded and it was such a great book and I really think that this series will be a very good one because Abi and Missy are such great authors. I am assuming that this book will be in Cole’s perspective but assuming may never be right. I honestly would not mind another book in Lexi’s perspective but Cole’s perspective will be so fun to read from!  Let me know what book you are excited for!
