Let’s Talk!: Branded by: Adi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki

Fifty years ago The Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society.

To punish the guilty, he created the Hole, a place where sinners are branded according to their sins. Sinners are forced to live a less than human existence in deplorable conditions, under the watchful eye of guards who are ready to kill anyone who steps out of line.

Now, LUST wraps around my neck like thick, blue fingers, threatening to choke the life out of me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit, and the Hole is my new home.

Constant darkness.

Brutal and savage violence.

Excruciating pain.

Every day is a fight for survival.

But I won’t let them win. I will not die in the Hole.

I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter. My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

picadillyblue non spoilerThis was such a great dystopian read. I loved the world that this book takes place in and the characters. The plot was so clear through the whole entire book. The events leading up to the climactic event ran so smoothly and there were no boring parts in this book. I read this book coming out of a contemporary romance streak and it was so great for a refreshment of dystopian. If you love dystopian reads with some romance this book is definitely for you. Plus be hipster and get with this book before its super hyped!

I liked this book so much. The characters were so great and I loved reading from Lexi’s perspective. She was so strong but can just shatter. How she felt about Cole and her feelings, how during the final battle what her experiences were, and how she was adjusting to her time in the Hole. I really liked the dystopian world they lived in too. The idea of a world that has a clearance of the 7 deadly sins is something I haven’t read so much of. Actually…I have never read anything with a dystopian world based of the 7 deadly sins. The Hole itself…isn’t so nice. It seems brutal there. Attacks, getting Branded, the people there are so harsh, and its a horrible place to be but it is supposed to be “jail” for the Branded.

The characters in this book…well other than Lexi. Okay. We can’t start with Cole. I need to calm down then we will write Cole last. Just because why not? Okay..first Sutton. Not much to say about this man but I liked him so much. He was so nice and like a father to Lexi during her time in the Hole. Then theres Bruno. I liked Bruno. A lot. He was so nice to Lexi and trained her while she wasn’t working in the hospital. Then there is Alyssa. Oh jeeze. Just talking about her makes me so sad again. She was so sweet, I dislike the fact that she was Branded at such a young age. Then she gets sick…and dies at 13. Goddamn it Abi and Missy, why do you play with my emotions. When Alyssa died…I was a crying mess. It was so sad and I enjoyed so much of the book with her. Okay…now Keegan. I’m not sure how I feel about this guy. He was so infuriating to read about but I also understood where he was coming from when he wanted to protect Lexi. I just felt he was a bit harsh toward Cole. Nooow the person we’ve all been waiting for…Cole! I loved Cole because he was so nice and did a great job with protecting Lexi while her time in the Hole. Dude, this guys seems hot. I need water now. 😉

The ending was so fast. The ending battle came and we find out that the Commander is Lexi’s stepdad and Sutton’s brother. Keegan dies! Like wow. I need a break to soak in all this information. So predictions for the next book. I feel like we will be seeing more of the Hole because there is a relationship with Lexi and the Hole and I feel like she ended up in the Hole because if her mom sent her to the Hole, i’m pretty sure it’s not only because she is jealous. Plus her step-dad is Commander so there has to be something about the Hole in relationship to Lexi.

I hope you guys enjoyed this book as much as I did and thanks for reading!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
